Composer and pianist trained at the conservatories of Mons and Brussels, Yves Gourmeur has forged a rich and eclectic career spanning jazz, popular music, world music, and classical repertoire before devoting himself entirely to film scoring.

In 2019, he was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for his score for The Hummingbird Project by Kim Nguyen, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Salma Hayek, and Alexander Skarsgård, produced by Item7 (Canada) and Beside Productions.

He is also active in animation, having composed the score for Street Party – Mugge & Vejfesten (2020), directed by Wullfmorgenthaler and produced by Zentropa (Denmark/Belgium).

Yves Gourmeur has extensive experience in international co-productions, having composed for films such as Les Sœurs Chaos (Germany), Apaches and Au nom d’Emma (France), as well as Heysel – Dans l’enfer de la foule and Méprises (Belgium).

His talent extends to television as well, with original music for series including Becoming Karen Blixen (Denmark), Attractions (Belgium/France), Après la nuit (Belgium/France), Nacht im Paradies (Germany), and Beyond Black Beauty (Canada).

Working from his own studio dedicated to scoring for visual media, he collaborates closely with a trusted network of musicians, technicians, and sound engineers. He is also the CEO of MY SCORE SRL, a company specializing in executive music production for film and television.

An improviser, jazz musician, orchestrator, and explorer of both contemporary and electro-experimental music, Yves Gourmeur places storytelling at the core of his creative process—guided by curiosity, precision, and a deeply musical intuition.
